My groomer requires that my pet stay for 4 hours in a cage or most of the day! How long will it take for my pet to have a spa session?
Grooming salons groom a much larger volume of pets. How would you like being left at a shop all day surrounded by barking dogs, crying cats, loud dryers and the phones ringing? How about being handled by many different people, in an assembly line format? With us, your pet is never sitting and waiting, alone and wet in a cage. With our spa package, your pet receives personal attention from start to finish and you don't even have to leave your driveway! Pets are comforted knowing that they are still close to home. They can look out the windows and see! When finished, the pet steps out of the van and is already in comfortable surroundings!
You are so nice, but I'm still nervous about having my pet groomed. Can I stay and watch you?
Yes of course you can! Many groomers are uncomfortable with an audience. Dana having been a former grooming instructor and in training at one time for grooming competitions, welcomes any pet parent who would like to observe.
What areas do you service?
We park our mobile Spa /Salon right at your doorstep. We cover most of Miami Dade and Broward County. Some live too far out for us to visit, so for those people, we park 1-2 days a month in a standing location . You come to us, leave your pet, (go shopping, have lunch, read a book in your car) come back an hour later or we can call you on your cell and your baby is all pampered and ready to pick up. We will travel out of our regular area for a large family of pets (4 pet min.) or if there are numerous clients all in one neighborhood.
How do I make a appointment?
Please contact us by email or phone. We will respond promptly.
How do you handle scheduling the appointments?
Appointments do fill up fast. We try to be as accomodating as possible, but we also try to group together our visits so that we see our friends who live nearby each other on the same day. We need to do this to be efficient time and energy wise. We highly recommend that you book yor standing appointments every 4-6 weeks is advised for most, but depending on your pet and your needs you can go as long as 12 weeks between appointments) on a particular day and time. We start early. 7:00am is our first appointment. So your pet can have his spa session before you even leave for work.
If you have neighbors that own pets, then get together as a group and we can service all of your pets needs on regular schedule.
If you choose not to have a standing appointment, it is a good idea to call at least a week a head of time for a weekday appointment and 2 or 3 weeks a head of time if you need a weekend appointment. We will always email an appointment reminder 72 hours in advance of our visit.
We politely ask, as a friend, that you call us if you need to cancel or reschedule. If we come to visit you at your scheduled time and you are not home, there will be a $75 surcharge to be paid before we can schedule another visit.
Do I have to be home while my pet is pampered?
We want to make sure that we start our friendship off on the right paw and that takes communication and trust, but once we are all comfortable, if you choose, it is possible for you to be out and about while we visit. Our schedule is fairly flexible. We are early birds and even have some evenings available...weekends too! We will do everything we can to make our visit as convenient as possible for you.
How do I pay ? When do I pay
We accept mastercard/visa/discover or cash Payment is due at time of service. We have a state of the art wireless credit card machine that will generate a reciept at your door. many of our regular clients fill out a credit card authorization form with the several months of appts and fees so they do not even have to be homet. We may not be able to quote you an exact price over the phone, but we can give you an educated estimate. If when we see your pet, he requires extra work(dematting/deshedding), we will notify you up front if this will incur any additional charge. We promise there will never be any nasty surprises when it comes to your bill. We also have gift certificates available. Gratuities are not required, but are appreciated, if you feel so inclined.
My pet has a lot of tangles (mats) . Is it really necessary to shave it ? Often times NO
Tangles or "mats" as we call them in the industry can be very damaging to the dogs skin. Severe matting decreases the circulation of blood to your friend's skin. You know how it feels when your foot falls asleep, imagine that feeling all over your whole body and you will understand why your pet maybe scratching. Severe mats can cause skin irritations and hide other conditions such as hot spots, dermatitis, seborrhea, parasites, cuts, scabs, sores and redness. We will discuss your choices, how best to address them and most important of all, how to avoid a like situation in the future.
Detangling or dematting- Dana has specific training in the techniques and the patience and skill required to safely demat a dogs coat. The correct process of dematting a dogs coat without damaging the skin or hair folicle is very time consuming. The coat is worked on when dry as well as wet with deep medicated conditioners You must first loosen the mats by hand gently seperating the fur, protective and soothing lavender powders are used to help protect the skin and abosrb dirt and debris from the coat. Special tools are used to further lift and help seperate the coat. The pet is then given a medicated soak (developed by NASA research on the decontamination of astronauts) Sometimes removing the fur may be the best option for your pet depending on the severity of the matting. Dematting fees are charged at $85.00 per hour and you are given a special medicated spray if needed to help any underlying skin conditions.
Do you groom large dogs?- YES!
Many mobile groomers do not handle large dogs, We love them and they are more than welcome! We have many giant schnauzers, and lots of doodles! Dana is known as the "Queen of Doodles" in Aventura due to her large following of Goldendoodle and labradoodle friends
Do you Groom Cats- YES!
Cats are generally more challenging than dogs and you definitely need experience and confidence to service them safely. As a former grooming insturctor I have groomed hundreds of Cats. We are very sensitive to their special needs, and in all actuality, our Mobile Spa is the perfect environment to pamper your feline. It's quiet. There are no barking dogs or other distractions that might agitate your kitty, and yes, we give them most of the same pampering the dogs get and the majority really enjoy it!
I have and older pets that have hip problems can you groom them? YES
We can service our "Special needs" clients with prior Veterinarian approval
Do you Groom Aggressive and dog that don't behave well? YES
Yes, We have specific training to safetly handle difficult dogs. We enjoy the challenge of earning their trust and winning them over. Most are just scared and with care and compassion, a new friendship can blossom. Our success rate is phenomenal, but once in a blue moon, we encounter a pet that just isn't willing to be our friend and when that happens, we will stop immediately, rather than risk injury. This is an extremely rare occurence. We hate to do it, but unfortunately, sometimes it is necessary to muzzle your pet for a part of the spa process that they are ultra sensitive to, but we strive to make it as quick and as pleasant as possible. If your pet's issues are especially time consuming, there may "special handling" fees that apply. We do not use tranquilizers ever!
When should my puppy or kitty have it's first grooming?
Grooming should start at 10-12 weeks. This will allow your new baby the opportunity to become aquainted with us and all the new things that come with being a pampered pet. Noises such as dryers and clippers, nail clipping, even just standing on the table can be frightening if they are not introduced with care and patience. The first 6 months of life for your pet is like the first 5 years for a human which is why it is so important to start them early. We recommend spa sessions once a month for 4-5 months and every 4-6 weeks after that depending on the breed and your needs. We will also help you learn as much as you wish about your new friend's home grooming needs. Cat Grooming is a little different as risk of injury to the groomer is greater and the behavior of the pet is a greater factor.Cat prices depend on weight and/or condition of coat.Prices will vary largely based on the behavior or the pet. Prices range from $75+ Prices will vary based on the amount of time required to service the pets needs. |
